The company IntraVitals is founded by Geoff Salter, a Biomedical Engineer, and Prof Leith Meyer, a veterinary physiologist and pharmacologist. They have partnered to create devices which provide unique solutions to veterinarians and researchers.

Geoff earned a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He then completed a Master’s degree in Engineering, with a focus on pulse wave analysis. Geoff’s research from his master’s degree enabled the development of the IntraTorr. Geoff has, and is working as an electronics engineer in the medical devices industry, based in the UK, developing medical products for international companies.

Leith earned a BVSc degree in Veterinary Science and BSc honours degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa. He then completed a PhD in Physiology from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. Leith’s PhD required him to measure a number of physiological parameters in anaesthetised animals in the field. During his PhD he teamed up with Geoff to develop the IntraTorr which has enabled him and others to successfully measure blood pressure accurately in a number of different animals. Leith has lectured in veterinary physiology and pharmacology and spends a large proportion of his academic endeavours on researching ways of understanding and improving the anaesthesia of domestic and wild animals.
